Chapter 4, Exploring Interests and Values, Feb. 23-March 1

Hello Students,

For this week, choose any two topics below.

What is your most important value in life and how are you acting on this value to achieve your life goals?

Comment on a successful decision you have made and how it matches your values.

Comment on an unsuccessful decision you made and how it did not match your values.

What are your highest interests as described by the Interest Profiler in this chapter?  How do these interests match your career choice or the major you are considering?  Interests include realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional.

Comment on another student's post. Can you add to their comment or raise new questions?

As one of your options this week, read the following 2 scenarios and comment on one of them. Based on the individual’s values, give your opinion about what would be the best decision.

Scenario 1: What should be my major?

Shawn is twenty years old and has completed two years of college. He has been trying to decide whether to major in engineering or music. He has completed all of his general education requirements as well as several courses in music, math, and physics. As a child, Shawn was interested in science and dreamed of making new inventions. He always took things apart to see how they worked. Math was always easy for Shawn, and he received awards for achievement in science. He also took part in band throughout his school years and learned to play several instruments. As a teenager, he had a garage band and became so interested in playing the piano that he spent two hours a day practicing. Shawn’s dilemma was that he was becoming stressed out trying to do both majors and
no longer had time to do well in both music and engineering. He also wanted to have time to get a part-time job in order to become more independent. Shawn’s top five values are being independent and living on his own, having a secure future, doing interesting work, achieving something important, and being able to relax. Based on his values, what major should Shawn choose?

Scenario 2: Should Maria continue her education?

Maria is a married mother of two young boys ages five and seven and a part-time college student. Maria and her husband, Juan, are very proud of their Mexican heritage and value their marriage and family. They both think that it is important for Maria to spend time with the children. Maria learned to speak English as a second language and has made sure that her children speak both English and Spanish. While the children are in school, Maria has been attending college part-time with the goal of becoming a teacher’s aide in a class for bilingual children. She has some experience as a teacher’s aide and gets a great deal of satisfaction from helping the children. Juan works in construction, and the family has sacrificed to come up with the money to pay for Maria to attend college. Maria has struggled to earn her associate’s degree and is proud of her accomplishments. She values her education and wants her children to do well in school. Now Maria is considering continuing her education to earn the bachelor’s degree so that she can become a teacher. She would enjoy having her own classroom, loves working with children, and would have a higher income as a teacher than she would as a teacher’s aide. Maria’s husband is concerned that she will spend too much time at college and will not be home for the children. He is also relieved that Maria has finished college and plans to work part-time to supplement the family income while the children are in school. Should Maria continue her education and earn a bachelor’s degree?

  1. The most important value in my life in being honest. Honest with myself as well as others. Being honest with myself allows me the ability to love and value myself and give me so much confident to achieve my goals in the most true way possible. Being honest to others allows others people to trust me and always come to me first when they are in need as well as in their tough times. When others trust me because of honest I am, It makes me feel better about myself and value myself more and more as a good person. This value will also help my in my future career because it will make my coworkers trust me and come to me when they struggle.

  2. A very successful decision I made is by deciding to major in civil engineering. Me by being honest to myself and finding where my strengths and downsides are had help me the most. Being honest to myself and knowing that I hate chemistry and physics and have a weird obsession to math and not being ashamed of it had help me, and I sure can not wait until I reach my goals as being a civil engineer and reach the future I am wishing for the most. This decision saved me so much time because I will stick with it and I wont waste any years deciding the major I want to do and I love to do.

    1. Hi Adra, it’s great that you're gifted in math - it's one of the most valuable skills one can have in the workplace. I know you said that you’ve got a career in Civil Engineering all picked out, but as a random thought for you - have you ever looked into a career as an actuary? It is about the most math intensive job you can have in the financial and business world, there is a great demand for it, and the job is very well paid. I don't have the skills necessary to be successful in the field myself - you have to be very, very solid in math – but it’s an extremely interesting and challenging field. Since you have what you called a “weird obsession in math” (which is actually pretty cool), you might want to give the actuary job description a look.

  3. My top interest for careers are being a registered nurse, teacher, or therapist. All of these were a part of my highest interest as described by the interest profiler which are; artistic and social. These are my top picks because in my life my number one goal that I feel will lead me to satisfaction is to help people, specifically children. I like to help by teaching life lessons, academics, sports, and anything that will benefit them. I feel I would be successful in these careers because I really do care about people and want to make a difference in their lives. I feel I can most do this through becoming a counselor or therapist, however I don’t know if I want to do schooling that long and feel that being a nurse would be just as rewarding.

  4. A very successful decision I made was deciding to finish college. I don’t like school and was going to settle for my associates. However, I have recently decided that a couple years will fly by and in the end I will feel more accomplished and have a career I enjoy and am proud of. This matches my value in that I value having a successful career that I am proud of, a degree higher than an associates, and the feeling of accomplishment. So I plan on remaining focused in school and accomplishing my hopes and dreams despite the length of time it may take.

  6. I was just thinking about marias dilemma. I think she should return to school because with a bachelors degree she could potentially make twice as much money being a teacher rather than being a teachers assistant. If she is worried about not being available for her kids she could always just schedule classes at the same time as her kids go to school. Having a higher level of education is key to creating a better life for her and her family.

  7. In the scenario involving Shawn I believe he should chose engineering for his major. Being a musician is fun and playing the piano is a good hobby to have it is unlikely he will become successful at it being a musician. Engineering is a better major because his chances of being successful increase dramatically. Because engineers are in high demand and it pays a lot more than being a ,musician who can play the piano. I'm sure there a lot of good piano players out there but how many of then only play piano for a living, probably not many.

  8. The most important value in my life is loving myself. Loving my appearance, health, and sobriety has impacted me alot. Being able to look at the mirror and having positive affirmations about myself has helped me with having a positive attitude and confidence in myself. Playing sports has also helped me with loving myself because I use my talents that I was gifted at a young age. The biggest transformation for me has been staying sober and loving myself. I have made a commitment not to harm my body in anyway. Therefore by loving myself I release my stress by exercising and eating healthy nutrition.

  9. What is your most important value in life and how are you acting on this value to achieve your life goals?

I would have to say that my most important value is to have happiness. Nothing else matters to me too much if I am not happy. I could have everything that I have ever wanted, but would trade it all very fast if I was not happy. Happiness is important to me because if I am happy then life will be enjoyable for me. Having an enjoyable life is not easy, and most people never attain happiness. There are so many powerful people out there that are not happy and I do not want to be one of them. There are also people who have never even experienced happiness not even once. If I can achieve happiness then I have accomplished my main goal in life. I am acting on this value by taking life one step at a time, accomplishing my long term goals to be happy by breaking the goals to smaller pieces.

    1. The last chapter in the text is all about happiness and how to achieve it. Psychologists think that the path to happiness is knowing your strengths and using them. You are right about taking it one step at a time to accomplish your lifetime goals.

  10. I believe that Maria should continue her education. If she made it through the first two years I believe that she can make it through a second two years. Not only will she have her own classroom but it would set a good example for her kids that education is valuable. She would struggle financially for two years but it would pay off in the long term (her getting her bachelor's degree). She could make more money too. The only major sacrifice that will not turn out to have benefits later is maybe Maria missing out on key relationship time with her kids.

  11. A successful decision I have made is being sober. Instead of partying, drinking, and being rebellious, I have made better choices in following the right path. Taking priority of my well being has taught me how to love myself and meet my needs. What has really helped me is staying active in sports, church, and my education. Even though it was not easy for me I'm glad my parents were supporting me and disciplining me to do well and to follow the rules. I feel like I accomplished many of my goals because I'm staying focused. I'm just glad that because I love myself I don't put myself at risk.

  12. Shawn should stick with engineering. First off, he is naturally skilled in math and science, loves to tinker and see how things work, and has won awards for his science skills. Engineering is a field that is in high demand, has a decent pay grade, and could quite possibly be a path to the achievement of something important in his life.
On the other hand, his interest in music seems to have been more of a hobby than a career – and we should remember that only a tiny fraction of garage bands are ever able to break into the big leagues. Being in a band would also mean traveling constantly, which would mean that Shawn would struggle to raise kids or even maintain a long-term relationship. (Assuming these are important issues for him.)
Shawn’s top values were independence, having a secure future, doing interesting work, achieving something important, and being able to relax. Of the two paths he is considering, engineering is the one far more likely to lead to success in the areas that are important to Shawn – unless he is truly exceptional in his musical skills.

  13. My most important value is family. Many times work and school gets in the way of spending time with my family. It would be good if there was a way to balance work, school and family as that is something that is constantly being re-evaluated. Money will always come and go in life, but family will always be there, regardless of income status. To balance work, school with family there are many times I have to make sacrifices in my sleep to lengthen my day and time management also plays a very important role. I am acting on this value by allotting at least one full family day per week away from work or school to spend time with my family.

  14. My highest interests on the Interest Profiler are Enterprising, Investigative and Social. One career that matches my interests is Medical Health Manager. These interests match my career choice or major I am considering because to be successful in this career are that I enjoy working with people and that I have a strong eye for detail. I also do have some interest in the health field. Another major of interest that I have is computers and both majors require a strong understanding of math and science for the first 2 years, basic core curriculum.

  15. My most important value is being happy. That can be defined by so many subjective ideals. I feel as though life is short and unpredictable and that I should spend as much time as possible, because let’s be honest we can’t be happy all the time, as happy and satisfied with my life as possible. I make a concentrated effort every morning to wake up and think about what’s good about my life, my family, my job, my interactions with the world and try to find positives. I also try to make decisions about my life taking into consideration what makes me happy.

  16. Regarding a good decision I made. About four years ago I quit smoking. I believe doing so quintessentially changed my value system in a way. I’m getting on a soapbox to preach to those out there who do smoke, I can only speak to how it affected my life. When I quit I also started working out and focusing more of my “boredom” time I used to spend smoking on other tasks, reading books, going running etc It also supported my views and values regarding how I feel about personal growth and trying to always improve myself and grow as a person.

  17. There are many important values in my life but one of my most important values would be achieving my goals. Achieving my goals makes me very happy and I feel satisfied when they are achieved. An example of achieving a goal would be when I graduated from high school. I was very proud of myself for all the work I accomplished. It takes time to accomplish a big life time goal so I take it one day at a time. My next goal I hope to accomplish is graduating college. That will obviously take some time but I will work hard at it every day. Achieving my lifetime goals gives me a good sense of accomplishment.

  18. I think that Maria should continue her education because there are more benefits or positive outcomes than her not finishing her education. First, she will make more money once she gets her bachelors degree and therefore better support her family. Second, she will be doing what she loves most and get more out of her experience being a teacher rather than just a teachers aide. However the downfall of her continuing her education would be missing out on some time with her children. Her kids are still young and she is not going to be in school forever. She is going to have to sacrifice some time away from her children in order to eventually give them a better life. Also, in the end she will be proud of herself for finishing school and be a happy person.

  19. An important value for me is being a good parents to my children. I want them to be happy and successful in life and will do everything to ensure that they have a happy and safe upbringing. To ensure that I am successful with this, I encourage my kids to do their homework, and ensure that they play sports to build up their self esteem and confidence. I'm always there for them when they need an ear to listen to them. I give them incentives for being diligent and hardworking, such as taking them to location of their choosing when we go on vacations, that way I could instill habits that are good in them.

  20. A decision that I've made that matched my values is one day in early spring I picked up my friend to go shopping with me. When we got to the mall and started browsing through clothing, I noticed that she didn't have much taste on what clothes looked good on her, and she noticed that too. So she started picking up the same clothes that I picked up but different shades. Since we hang out together a lot and go to the same places I got a little agitated because I didn't want us to be matching. I almost told her off then and there. But I didn't. I value kindness a lot. I tried looking at it from her perspective. I thought I should take it as a compliment that she thinks my taste in clothes are good. So I turned around and helped her choose clothes that would fit her and she seemed so happy with this and I was happy too to see her smile as I showed her clothes that would look good on her.

  21. What is your most important value in life and how are you acting on this value to achieve your life goals?

The most important value in my life is happiness and accomplishing my goals. I am acting on this value by keeping my life balanced. I believe making sure that my life is balanced will make me happy and get me closer to accomplishing my goals. I make sure I have some time for myself and not only work and school. It is important for me to keep myself healthy and relax when needed so that I can go back to work and school refreshed and ready. In doing this, I will have the energy I need to complete tasks and not stress too much. I also like to maintain my relationships and keep my family and friends close. I love spending time with them, it definitely makes me happy. Keeping my life balanced will help me accomplish my goals in life.

  22. For two years, I only focused on my work and school. My day consisted of me waking up, going to work and then going to school and then going back to sleep to wake up to do it all over again. I rarely hung out with my friends and spent time with family. I stopped enjoying my hobbies as I didn’t have time to do any of them. I didn’t have time for myself and time to think. It was very unhealthy and was an unsuccessful decision. I was always stressed out and my life was so unbalanced. Once I realized it, I started managing my time more. I allotted time only for work and school. I became adamant to finish all the tasks that I need to finish before I relax. On my days off, I relax, try to do my hobbies like play guitar, take photos and design. I also spend some quality time with my family and friends. Now, I am healthier than I ever was. Of course, there’s always room to grow and be better at managing my time but I am happy with the progress.

  23. My most important value is my relationship with God, which sometimes is the least complicated yet most difficult relationship that I have. It is important to me because its the only thing I have that will truly last forever. Nothing that I have or do in my time on earth will matter in 100+ years. That doesn't mean I shouldn't try to make a difference or have a good life, but it means that I shouldn't be caught up in all that and lose sight of what's truly important. And I'm worried that I haven't been putting my full effort into this recently; I've been distracted. It is important to me to find truth and follow it with all my heart, soul, and mind (you could consider that my life goal). Along with my relationship with God is the relationship I have with those people who He has placed in my life, like my family and friends.

  24. The most important value to me is not one thing, but they are many things that are combined together in order to give me what I need, and the way I like my life to be. One of the most important values to me is becoming an educated person, and this happened when I continue my studies, and achieving my goals in life which leads me to growing and developing. Also this makes me a role model for my kids, so I can be a good parent. It’s important to me to have good friends. This can be achievable when I adhere to be honest with myself and with others, helping others in doing community service which gives me their respect. All this is going to bring happiness to me which is one of my important values.

  26. My most important value in life is being religious. I am a Catholic and for me it is the most important thing in my life. For me it goes further than going to church on Sundays and praying to God. What I value most is following the teachings of Jesus and applying his philosophy to my life. Jesus teaches us to be good people, to be moral and to do what is right even in the face of persecution. Everything that he teaches can be applied in some way or another to be the best version of yourself. I try to follow the teachings and by reading the bible I educate myself on how to live my life as a good Catholic. Being a good person is most important in my life.

  27. My highest interests are enterprising according to the interest profiler. Two of the suggestions for careers it gave me were career choices I have been thinking about lately. I know that I want to become a lawyer as I value honesty and I believe what is right should always prevail against something that is wrong. I know I want to go into the law field but what I have been considering is weather or not to become a judge. This is something that sounds very interesting to me and coincides with most of my values other than the political aspect of the job. I found that this to be very interesting when learning about how my values truly coincided with my career choices.

  28. The most important value in my life is to be a good role model for my younger cousins. I act on this by not smoking, drinking, or doing any drugs and instead by playing sports or seeking out other healthy fun activities, to show that I don’t need to party or smoke and drink to be happy. I also try my best in school and work, to show that hard work will pay off in the end . By making healthier choices and working hard I can focus more on my future without worrying about my health or any other issues.

  29. What Should be my Major?
I believe that Shawn should choose to major in engineering. One of his values is to have a secure future, based on this engineering would be a very good choice for him because there is a rise in engineering jobs, which would give him a better chance in finding a job after graduation. He would also be able to do interesting work by creating new inventions that could help people, which would be more fulfilling to him in his life. He would also be able to be more independent by being financially stable and by having the freedom to invent new things.

  30. What is your most important value in life and how are you acting on this value to achieve your life goals?

The most important value in my life is success. I want to be able to achieve any goal that I set before myself. I pride myself on my drive and determination. I am constantly trying to better myself and develop my talents further. A man that can achieve his goals can live a life that yields happiness and self-fulfillment. I have people that expect things from me and it is this that propels me to demonstrate that I am indeed worthy of their expectations. I want to distinguish myself and achieve my life long goals, being able to reflect on all the rigor I endured that culminated to my success.

  31. Comment on a successful decision you have made and how it matches your values.

My decision to cut social media out of my life has been tough but successful. The time that I had once spent on twitter and youtube has been replaced with productivity, and more importantly for me, reading! Reading truly helps one develop as a person. For as many videos there are online that try to mimic the content of a book nothing beats the real thing. Now that I am reading more often, I find myself more knowledgable. I am going beyond school and actually learning from history's most intelligent thinkers in my spare time! The more I read the more fulfilled I feel and the closer I am to realizing my potential.

  32. My most important value is being happy. Life is way to short to not be happy. Life is spontaneous and certain things hit you when you least expect it but it's not about how much you go through its about how much stuff he's thrown at you and how strong you are to get right back up. I go throughout my day counting my blessings and try to look at everything in life in a positive way. I do what makes me happy and sometimes I have to put myself first in order to do that but like I said, life is too short. Being happy is the best and healthiest way to live.

It's the best decision I have ever made. The amount of time I spent on social medias and sitting on my phone has completely corrupted me and I have been drowning with society with all the social medias. Instead I catch up on my homework even though it might not be due for another 2 weeks. I exercise and do other things besides sitting on my phone. 35. So my biggest value is respect. Without respect you can burn bridges with people so easily that could help you in the future. I have seen so many people with lack of respect and it really bothers me. Respect is something I have towards everyone until they do something that destroys it. This value has helped me with a lot of things. In school it has allowed me to earn the trust of my professors, teachers, and fellow students. Having the respect of these individuals can help you in the future. If you ever need help on something you can always go to past teachers or professors who have come to respect you and use them to help yourself. It is just a great thing to have for yourself and others.

  36. I think Maria should continue her education, and earn a bachelor’s degree because it’s so obvious that Maria’s most interest is continuing her education, subsequently this is one of her value. In addition to that she wants to enhance the Standard of living of her family, and this is another value. We can Notice that there is a pros and cons in her situation. The pros is that when she earns the bachelor degree this will give her a good opportunity for work and improve the family’s income, however this required some sacrifice in her time with her family which is the cons. In my opinion Maria should continue her education because since this is her important value and decision, she will succeed in achieving it.

  37. My biggest value is success. It is important to me to achieve the goals I have set for myself. Every day I try to better myself and I acknowledge my weaknesses. To me, that is success. Being able to fully understand your weaknesses and accept them plays a huge role in my life. Once you acknowledge your weaknesses, you can better yourself.

A successful decision I have made was taking 5 months off from playing the sport I love, soccer. Last fall during my college season at Grossmont, I tore my rectus femoris muscle which is located in my left quad. It was a challenge and extremely tough to stay away from soccer, since I have been playing since the age of five. I realized taking that time off improved myself mentally and physically. Today, I am healthier than ever and I am stronger than before.

  38. The most important value in my life is my family. I honestly do not know where I would be without their support. They support me with the decisions I make even if it's not in their favor. They have been my protectors and have provided me with everything I could possibly need. They raised me with respect and taught me rights from wrongs. They taught me how to love and what true love really means. They are people that I can always turn to and know me better than anyone. My nieces in nephews mean the world to me and give me the greatest joy in life. I wouldn't trade my family for the world and am grateful for such a caring family. This value will help me with my future career because they will guide me into the right decision.

  39. What is your most important value in life and how are you acting on this value to achieve your life goals?

My most important value in my life is being a good parent to my daughter. To be a good parent I must go and finish my schooling to further my education and ethical knowledge. In my opinion, furthering these skills are important to me so I can teach my daughter to become a well-rounded person, especially while she is at a young age where she is learning so quickly. Teaching her about the different backgrounds and values of other people and why they are just as important as our own and not better or worse than any others will hopefully help me achieve my value of being a good parent.

Scenario 1: What should be my major?

Shawn needs to think about a couple of things before deciding on his major. He needs to think if he is interested in engineering or music and if he enjoys one more than another, even if it is slightly more than the other. I also think he needs to consider which major will be less stressful and which one will have more flexibility if he wants to have a part-time job and have time to relax. Another thing he should consider is which major will provide him with a more a secure future. He could ask himself which major does the employment market need more? Engineering is a highly sought out major by employers. On the other hand being a music major can be more competitive than engineering.

  40. In the scenario involving Maria, I believe she should continue her education. Regardless of what her husband believes, she should follow her dreams and obtain a bachelor's degree so she can become a teacher. The extra income would probably be much appreciated after she finishes her schooling. Also, she could take it slow and be a student only part-time so she still has time to spend with the kids. Maria can take her classes in the morning after she drops her children off at school and end them in the afternoon just in time to pick them up.

  41. The most important value to me is having power. The way I plan to act on this value is by continuing to move in the right direction and become an administrator and take care of people with special needs. By becoming an administrator I can work on my own hours and have the facility ran in a way that works with my needs as well as the needs of those I am taking care of. I just now finished the necessary class to become an administrator and in a few weeks I will become a licensed administrator. By taking the necessary classes to become an administrator I am one step closer to my goals.

  42. A successful decision I made was quitting my old job and deciding to work in the adult residential field. This relates to my values because I enjoy helping others as well as being able to make decision instead of being told what to do. Being in this field opens up more doors for me and I am thankful for it. I also believe it was a successful decision because in my previous job I was working harder and not smarter while now I am working smarter not harder.

  43. Contrary to many other responses about Maria and her education, if I was in her position I do not think that I would pursue a bachelor's degree, at least for now. Her boys are young and with their father working so much, they should at least have one parent that is more consistently with them. It would be different if the father was home more but the construction business has long hours. A community college education to be a teachers aid is a great accomplishment and her part time job is obviously very fulfilling for her, but to me the bachelor's degree could wait until Maria and Juan's children were more independent. Until then, a part time job is a great income supplement and she can also be there for her boys at an age when they need her the most.

  44. My most important value is being financially stable. A way i plan to act on this value is by finding a career i enjoy and love that also pays good. By finding a career that does this i will be able to live a life where i dont have to worry about paying bills or having to live paycheck to paycheck. By taking this class i am going in the right direction to figure out what career will work for me and that i will enjoy.

  45. Comment on a successful decision you have made and how it matches your values.

My whole life I wanted to do what my family never got to do, Graduate high school on time with my class. Throughout high school I worked so hard to make sure I accomplished this goal. I turned in all of my assignments, wrote every essay and paper with full potential, and turned in as many extra credit assignments as I could. As stressful as it was, the feeling of complete accomplishment to walk down that stage and get my diploma was by far the most rewarding thing I have felt.

  46. What is your most important value in life and how are you acting on this value to achieve your life goals?

My most important value in life is take be sure that I am stable in all aspects of my life, especially financially. I make sure I work and go to school to make sure my future is bright. Going to school and working doesn't only benefit me but my son and husband as well. It assures that they are taken care of and later on down the line, I will be able to give us everything we need to be stable.

A very unsuccessful decision I made was when I was in my very early 20's. There's some wreckage I believe I can share that may be useful to someone else that might read this. I was in college, taking a Bilingual Legal Office Clerk class, working a full time job, no kids and just married. For me, one of my biggest values is honesty. During this time I began to lie to my parents, and barely completed my certificate. I had my parents pay for three different classes and I only signed up for one. Plus, I had them give me money for books that I never bought. This was an unsuccessful decision because I could have achieved so much in those early years. Now, I find myself 20 years later, taking the same classes I already had the opportunity to complete and didn't. Besides this, I had to tell my parents at that time that I had spent the money (and it probably wasn't even worth it), and now I regret that I went against such an important value just for fun.

I will speak on scenario #2.
I believe that Maria should continue her studies. I come from the same Mexican traditions and it is hard to stay "loyal" while getting ahead in life. However, this is something that is going to really pay off, not only for their financial situation, but for their family. It will provide her children with a goal. This is the goal my children have by seeing me in college myself. It will give them the "push" to do better in life and be proud of their parents. Yes, it is time consuming and it is a sacrifice that she will have to make, all of them as a family. Nevertheless, I believe that with a little balancing out, it can all work out for Maria and her family.

  48. My most important value in life is my religion and my family. I love my re;iguana. I am muslim. Whenever I pray I feel a good sense of mind and feel calm and relaxed. My family is important to me as well because they care for me and I was raised with them. I am going to do good in school and get a good job in order for me to make my family proud of me. For my religion I am going to try to become a better muslim and study more about the religion.

  49. A successful decision I made is going to college and not working at any job for the money. This is the best decision because in the long run I am going to earn more money for what I do and I will have a maters degree which makes it more easier for me to get a better job at what Id like to do. This matches my value because I believe it takes patience to get the good thing instead of just me getting a job right away and for a little bit of money which is not worth it.

  50. An unsuccessful decision that i made is not showing up to class. In college there were days that i just missed classes and did not show up. This kind of messed me up because I received a bad grade and did not learn nothing at all. This does not match my values because it is not showing me putting in an amount of effort I was just slacking off.

  52. Based on spawns values I believe shawn should major in engineering. I say this because it is a great job for most people who have a creative minds and want to be financially secure and have a good future like shawn says. In music it is a hit or win some people may not like the music and it takes a great amount of effort to become good whereas in engineering it is a guarantee that it'll make someones future bright and make a good amount of money.
